The location sets the tone for your brand shoot—so how do you choose the right one?

One of the most common questions I get as a Vancouver branding photographer is: “Where will we shoot if I don’t have a studio?”
Spoiler alert: You don’t need one. Your brand session doesn’t require a white-wall studio or a big-budget rental. With the right strategy and eye, almost any space can tell your brand story beautifully. Let’s explore your options—and how to choose the right location for your brand photo shoot
What Makes a Good Brand Shoot Location?
Start by thinking about what your location should say about your brand. Is it cozy and welcoming? Elevated and editorial? Creative and bold?
Here’s what I look for when scouting locations:
- Natural light (windows are your best friend)
- Visual interest (textures, plants, minimal décor, clean surfaces)
- Flexibility for moving around and capturing variety
- Connection to your brand personality or client experience

Location Option 1: Your Home or Home Office
This is the most underused option—and often the most authentic.
If you run your business from home or have a space that reflects your lifestyle, using your home makes your shoot feel ultra-personal and grounded. We can style it with minimal props and furniture adjustments to make it photo-ready.
This is the right location for your brand photo shoot if you’re a:
→ Coach, creative, service provider who wants warmth + relatability
→ Behind-the-scenes shots of your actual workflow
→ “Come as you are” brands that prioritize connection
Location Option 2: Rented Spaces or Lifestyle Studios
Want a specific aesthetic or don’t feel great about using your home? I have a list of gorgeous Vancouver-area studios and Airbnb-style rentals that offer:
- Cozy kitchen or living room setups
- Clean, neutral backdrops
- Boutique furniture and minimal décor
These spaces are great if you want a polished but relaxed editorial look.

Location Option 3: Outdoor Settings

If your brand has a natural, adventurous, or approachable vibe—outdoor locations can be a stunning (and budget-friendly) choice.
From city streets to parks, gardens, or trails, we’ll work with:
- Seasonal colors and natural textures
- Lifestyle movement (walking, working outside, interacting)
- Candid, grounded energy
Keep in mind: Weather and lighting will guide timing and prep.
Location Option 4: Cafés, Studios, or Public Spaces
Coffee shops, boutiques, or shared workspaces can make amazing branding backdrops—with the right permissions.
We’ll choose a space that fits your brand and allows us to work with natural light, quiet corners, and a clean aesthetic.
Great for:
→ Wellness professionals
→ Designers, copywriters, or brand strategists
→ Product-based entrepreneurs who want lifestyle storytelling
